The world of Challenger’s Chase is defined by one word. Free­dom. Too much of it, Car­neli­a’s grand­fa­ther might say, giv­en the fla­grant dis­re­gard for bod­i­ly safe­ty that is so com­mon­place in Aerth. But with risk comes unpar­al­leled oppor­tu­ni­ty. In what oth­er world can a girl risk her life in a life-or-death mem­ber­ship exam in one week, wager her rights in a gam­bling tour­na­ment in the next, and learn mag­ic in an under­ground bat­tle are­na in the third? The prizes are up for the tak­ing, as long as Car­nelia can sur­vive.

The fur­ther into this world Car­nelia delves, the more help she’ll need. It’s a busy, bustling world, with just as many peo­ple that’ll get in her way as would help her. Luck­i­ly, the path of the Chal­lenger is filled with like-mind­ed trav­el­ers; peo­ple with their own dreams and wish­es to ful­fill. If she can get them on her side, they might just be the back­up she needs. A tal­ent­ed and dri­ven girl like her is bound to bump a lot of shoul­ders and step on a lot of toes, after all…

…Opposed by Strange Foes and Ambitious Enemies…

Many of the adver­saries Car­nelia will meet are on jour­neys of their own. She will face most as com­peti­tors; foul-weath­er-foes that she can crack a cold one with once the skies clear. Oth­ers she will encounter by coin­ci­dence, and end up tan­gled in the vor­tex of their lives for bet­ter or worse. Rarely will she be the main antag­o­nist of their lives, though a sin­is­ter few do make it a point to seek her out, like sharks to blood.

In this sto­ry, Car­neli­a’s adver­saries have just as much a right to tri­umph as her. And with such world­ly oppo­nents, she might find her­self knocked on her butt more often than not. But win or lose, Car­nelia plans on mak­ing it a fight.
